Settling in
Last night I made a little more progress on the settle we started a few weeks ago. On the surface of things the design is really simple, but it looks like the decorative looking pieces serve a structural purpose, so I've decided they really should be included. I've cut in the mortises and tenons for them. You can see some of that detail and details of the original bench I'm basing it on here:

Last week I bought some more wood for the panels in the back, and over my lunch break today I picked up some new bits to help me carve the fancy cut out pieces. If I make this look pretty enough maybe my wife will even let it live in the house. Maybe.
