Sabaton patterns

I started making the sabaton pattern last night. I'm only two plates into it and I'm ploughing through card stock already. Better that than steel I guess. I can't believe I didn't include this picture in the Burgundian armour entry:

It's the sabaton from Philip the Bold's tomb. The toe is a suprisingly different shape than St. George's (and George is my model, my muse, he completes me- wow that sounds super gay...anyway) but I LOVE the detail of the square knot on it. I'm still trying to figure out what the extra rivets are for on the toe plate- the ones closer to the ankle are for articulation, but the other one is mysterious.

I'm planning on getting together with my squire on Saturday morning to make swords and maybe work on shields if we have time.

You've probably already figured this out, but the second set of rivets closer to the toe are for attaching a strap that would go under the sole of the shoe.
