Cheap metal

McMaster-Carr has a good deal on 410 steel at about $14 for a 1ft by 2ft sheet. It's been good for getting to know the stuff, but since the pieces are so small there's a lot of waste and you can't really do bigger things like breast plates. I found this outfit is both cheaper per square inch and does sheets up to enormous and unwieldy size.
